Do228 as a research platform - GA-ATS

GA-ATS handed over a modified Do228 to DLR, which is using the aircraft as a research platform for emission-free, electric flight.

Electric engine system for the Do228

In mid-2021, GA-ATS handed over a retrofitted Do228 to Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). The aircraft, which had previously been used for passenger transport, received a basic refurbishment in order to use it as a technology carrier for zero-emission, electric flight. DLR carried out the installation of the electric propulsion system.

Special paintwork

Prior to delivery, the Do228 received a new paint job at Gerneral Atomics AeroTec System's paint store, which is particularly striking to create a high recognition value. 

The Do228 can be used in a variety of applications, including as a technology carrier and research platform.
